Armed assailants on Friday looted nearly Rs. 60 lakhs from the Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch in Nalbari, Assam. According to reports, the incident took place at around 1 pm at a PNB branch at Amayapur, about 8 kilometers from Nalbari district PNB headquarter. As per reports from Nalbari Police, 4 robbers came in motorbikes and cornered the branch manager after entering the bank. They were successful in looting about Rs. 60 lakhs of cash before fleeing. While fleeing from the bank they started firing indiscriminately injuring Nayan Das, a bystander outside the bank. Nayan who got shot in the leg was initially taken to the Nalbari Civil Hospital but was later shifted to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). About three empty cartridges were recovered from the crime scene and an operation has been launched to incarcerate the assailants.
