Guwahati: NorthEast United Football Club on Monday officially announced that former Ghana National Team Assistant Coach, Gerard Nus, has been appointed as the head coach of the club for the upcoming Hero ISL season. This move makes the 35-year old Spaniard the youngest manager in the Club\u2019s history Gerard Nus started his professional career as a coach at Liverpool FC\u2019s academy and was later promoted to Rafa Benitez\u2019s first-team coaching staff. He is known for his methodical approach, effective man-management, and grooming young talent. Gerard has worked with academy teams at Brighton and most recently at AFC Eskilstuna. He has also served as the Sporting Director for the La Liga sides Elche CF and Rayo Vallecano. As a First Team Manager, he has managed Rayo OKC in the United States and FC Irtysh Pavlodar in Kazakhstan. On the international stage, he enjoyed a highly successful stint with the Ghana National Team, working as an assistant manager under former Highlander\u2019s Head Coach Avram Grant. Speaking on the appointment, NorthEast United\u2019s Executive Director Priya Runchal said; \u201cWe were really impressed with Gerard\u2019s vision for the team. He has coached all around the world and his profile speaks for itself. He is known to develop budding talent whilst playing a brand of attractive attacking football. We are confident that he is the right appointment for the Club.\u201d On his appointment, Mr. Nus added; \u201cI am excited to start working at Northeast United FC.
