The Assam BJP on Monday suspended a leader named Dipanjoli Kakati for allegedly attacking a police officer inside a police station in Tinsukia district. A statement from the state BJP stated that Dipanjoli Kakati, an executive member of the party's state committee, was immediately suspended from the party. As per a report, a complaint was lodged against Kakati for obstruction of police duty and misconduct, which tarnished the image of the party and as a result, Kakati was suspended from the team with immediate effect. Apurba Das, a sub-inspector of the Kakopathar police station, was physically assaulted by the executive member of the Assam State BJP. In a statement filed against Dipanjoli Kakati on November 8, Apurba Das alleged that the BJP leader had given him a job in the affairs of the party by highlighting the importance of his relationship with the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. Dipanjoli Kakati is currently on the run.
