State Government on Saturday announced new rules for air passengers for traveling. Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that anyone traveling from Assam and returning within 24 hours need not go for COVID-19 tests; however, passengers coming from outside Assam will not have to undergo any COVID test if they had already tested 72-hours before traveling. \u201cChildren below 10 years of age do not have to undergo mandatory COVID testing\u201d, Sarma added. It completely depends upon the parents if they want their child to go through the Covid test. The Health Minister also said that the foreign diplomats including people from multilateral agencies like UNESCO, UNICEF also do not have to go for mandatory COVID tests on arriving in Assam. Officials on covert missions who have to conceal their identities are also exempted from mandatory COVID-testing.
