Tokyo Olympics: Three Hockey Players from North-East to Represent India

Three hockey players from Manipur and Mizoram have been shortlisted in the Indian Hockey teams in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
Indian Hockey teams recently revealed its list of members for the Tokyo Olympics.

Midfielder from Imphal East district of Manipur, Nilakanta Sharma, a midfielder from Imphal East district in Manipur, will be a member of the Indian Hockey team, representing the country in the Tokyo Olympics.
Similarly, veteran midfielder from Manipur, Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam has been in the 16-member team of the Indian Women Hockey squad.

Meanwhile, Mizoram’s Lalremsiami has also been shortlisted for the Indian Women’s Hockey Team representing the country in the Tokyo Olympics.
She is the first female from Mizoram to get selected for the coveted games.
The young player from Mizoram was also a member of the squad that led India to a silver medal in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
This will be the first time in 25 years, that a player from Mizoram got selected for the Olympics

Manipur Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh taking to Twitter congratulated the athletes for their selection in the National team.
“Congratulations Sushila Chanu & Nilakanta Sharma on making it to India’s Women and Men Hockey squad respectively for the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games. I’m proud that many young athletes from Manipur will be representing our country in the #Tokyo2020. Best wishes to the teams !” N. Biren Singh shared on Twitter.

Mizoram Chief Minister, Zoramthanga took to Twitter announcing Lalremsiami’s selection to the National Hockey Team for Tokyo Olympics.
“Mizoram’s Lalremsiami @Lalremsiami30 will be participating in the Tokyo Olympics 2021 as part of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team to be the first female Mizo Olympian.
I wish #TeamIndia the very best !”
