Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday inaugurated a 300-bedded Covid care centre in Imphal West. This facility will be the 14th Covid care centre, functional at Manipur Trade and Expo Centre at Lambikhongnangkhong.
“This facility can be further upgraded to a 1000-bedded Covid Care Centre if the need arises,” Singh tweets. The new facility has four blocks and each block will have basic essentials, including furniture and separate toilet facilities. Singh inaugurated the facility in presence of Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar and Health Minister L Jayantakumar.

With two ICMR-approved VRDL labs, the state has tested more than one lakh samples. According to reports, the state has entered community transmission, however, the state government have made no announcement on it. Meanwhile, CM Singh said that there are reports of local transmission in the state.
Earlier on Sunday, Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Y Khemchand Singh claimed that there is a community-level spread across the state.
The state has recorded a total 2,831 positive cases, with the fatality reaching 7 after a 20-years-old female succumbed to the virus on Sunday. The state has now 1087 active cases, while 1737 people have recovered. The recovery rate stands at 61.35 per cent.
