India Becomes Second Worst Hit Country; Overtakes Brazil

India is now the second worst-hit country in the world. India has now overtaken Brazil to become the second-highest number of COVID-19 cases. Brazil now has 4,137,606 COVID-19 cases. However, the United States still has the highest number of COVID-19 cases with a tally of 6,460,250.
In the last 24 hours, the country has the highest number of COVID-19 cases globally. According to the Union Health Ministry, in the last 24 hours, the number of COVID-19 cases was 90,802. The country’s infection tally is now 4,204,613.

According to the data by the Health Ministry, a total of 69,564 patients have recovered between Sunday and Monday morning. The total number of recoveries in India is now 3,250,429. Also, there is an increase in the recovery rate at 77.30%.
The death toll of the country is now at 71,642. According to the latest data of the Health Ministry at a total of 1,016 people died in the last 24 hours. On Sunday, there were 90,632 COVID-19 cases and a total of 70,626 deaths.

According to a statement by the Health Ministry, the active caseload accounts for only 20.96% of the total positive cases. The Case Fatality Rate as per government claim is one of the lowest. The Case Fatality Rate of the country is now at 1.72%. This is only possible due to the umbrella strategy of Test, Track, and Treat. And also due to the aggressive identification and wide-scale testing for COVID-19 cases.

COVID-19 Cases
India’s total recovery cases are now more than 32.5 Lakh. As per government data, 5 states are contributing 60% of the total COVID-19 cases. The states are: Maharashtra (21.6%), Andhra Pradesh (11.8%), Tamil Nadu (11.0%), Karnataka (9.5%) and Uttar Pradesh (6.3%).
