Covid-19 Update: India Records 2.17 Lakh Daily Cases, Assam 499 Cases

In the last 24 hours in yet another daily high, India has recorded 2,17,353 fresh Covid-19 cases and 1,185 related deaths.

With this, the country’s cumulative count surged to 1,42,91,917 of which 15,69,743 are active cases.
This is the second straight day that the country recorded over 2 lakh new cases.
Meanwhile, the Centre has asked states witnessing a surge in Covid-19 positive cases to follow the United Kingdom’s model when it comes to vaccination and containment.
The United Kingdom has adopted aggressive vaccination and containment in the form of a lockdown together.

On the other hand, Assam on Thursday recorded 499 fresh COVID-19 cases. Out of the new cases, 255 cases were from the Kamrup Metropolitan district.
As per information given by National Health Mission (NHM), in Kamrup Metro, 142 cases were detected in RTPCR tests, 113 cases were found in antigen tests.

The only fatality in the state on Thursday was reported from the Kamrup Metro district.
As the infection was detected in 499 people against the testing of 18,323 samples on Thursday, Assam has reported a positivity rate of 2.72 percent.

Meanwhile, Delhi government, on Thursday decided to impose weekend curfew to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus.
Essential services will be allowed to function, and special passes will be given for weddings. Restaurants will be shut for dine-in, but home delivery will be allowed. Malls and spas will remain closed. Cinema halls will be allowed to function at 30 percent capacity.
