Sarusajai Stadium to serve as quarantine centre for air passengers

Guwahati: Sarusajai stadium which was earlier used as quarantine centre for the people returning by road or train will also be used to quarantine air passengers as well.

This decision comes in the wake of the sharp dip in the number of passengers coming back to Assam by road or train, as a result of which pressure on the facility has decreased to a huge extent.

Until now the people returning by air has been put up at various hotels for quarantine. However, a certain section of people like aged people and pregnant women have been exempted from hotel quarantine and were asked to undergo quarantine at home after arriving at Guwahati airport.

Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Minister of State (independent) Urban Development, Health and Family Welfare Pijush Hazarika inspected the quarantine facility at the stadium on Tuesday morning.
