The non-payment of installments by the lessee to the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) for the various parking slots in the city has come to light. As such, GMC has issued a notification directing the lessee to pay the pending dues and warned off legal action if they fail to comply.
Also, GMC has made 50 parking stots run by the lessee in various parts of Guwahati free for the public till the settlement of fresh tender for the Financial Year 2021-22 or till they clear the dues.
“In the interest of public service and in supersession of all earlier orders. I am directed to inform all concerned that the parking slots of the defaulter lessees who have failed to deposit installments to Guwahati Municipal Corporation shall remain free for public till the settlement of fresh tender for the FY 2021-22 or till they clear the dues, whichever is earlier. The list of parking slots is enclosed herewith,” the GMC notification stated.
Parking will be free in many areas of Cotton Collegiate School Road, ICB Road, Dr. J.C. Das Road, ARB Road, GS Road, GNB Road, AT Road, Dispur Supermarket, A.K Azad Road from now on, GMC Commissioner Devashish Sharma informed the public in the notification.
The Guwahati Municipal Corporation also promised strict legal action against those found collecting parking fee in the mentioned areas till the settlement of fresh tenders.
“Parking fee collection till the settlement of fresh tenders in the mentioned slots shall be illegal and if such activities are seen strict actions will be taken as per law,” the notification read.
