GCC selected for WWF Echo project

The Gauhati Commerce College (GCC) along with five other colleges from across the country has been selected as the State Level Winners in the WWF-initiated ECHO (Environment Conservation Heroes) project 2020-21.

The WWF has selected six colleges etc. from different regions of the country for the Final Round Summit. The team will now participate in the Virtual National Echo Summit this July. The team worked under the guidance of Archita Baruah Bhattacharyya, Coordinator, WWF, Assam, and AP State Office, and Dr. Sweta Pegu, Convenor of the core team members comprising of the college students namely, Anisha Chakraborty, Neha Kashyap, Papori Deka, and Sunny Dey. The theme of this year’s ECHO is ‘Change the way we consume Food’.

A statement released by the college state, “The GCC team worked on a project aimed at reducing carbon footprints through a conscious change in the food we consume. It began with the modification of the college canteen menu to initiate responsible food consumption and campaigns in social media handles”.
