Guwahati Desk: The Kamrup District Administration on August 6 allowed bars to open from 10 am to 5 pm. The government, however, issued strict rules and regulations regarding COVID-19 norms. Customers and bar staff must follow all the social distancing and other norms related to COVID-19. They have to also follow all the other protocols issued by the Assam Government.
The State Excise Department issued a notification that allowed restaurants to serve liquor. The restaurants serving liquor must have a license to serve liquor.
Following the order, the Kamrup Administration allowed all IMFL ‘ON’ shops to remain open. They are allowed to remain open from 10 am to 5 pm. The shops have to follow strict compliance of the precautionary norms as per the guidelines issued by the Assam government.
Since the lockdown started in March, bars and restaurant serving liquor have remained closed in the State. Earlier, the phased manner unlock in Guwahati from August 2, allowed restaurants to start their business. However, they were not allowed to serve alcohol.
