Fake news in state to be monitored and actions to be initiated

News Desk: Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna gave instructions for immediate action against web portals and social media users engaged in false and fake news in the State.
Sanjay Krishna, asked the departments concerned to keep a strict vigil on such news web portals and social media platforms.

Commissioner and Secretary of Information and Public Relations Department, Preetom Saikia and Director Anupam Choudhury were present in the discussion.

The Chief Secretary said that such false and fabricated information can misled the general public.
Some news web portals and social media platforms in dissemination of fake news has come to the notice of the State government, the Chief Secretary said that such false and fabricated information can misled the general public.

There is a huge possibility of these having an adverse effect particularly on the upcoming generation. False information and fake news circulated in such web portals and social media platforms may cause harm to our society. The Chief Secretary also gave instructions to take immediate action against such news web portals and social media users as per the cybercrime laws.
