Water Resource Minister Pijush Hazarika on Wednesday informed that the state government will instate four new Forensic Laboratory in Assam.
While addressing a press meet in Janata Bhawan, minister Pijush Hazarika informed that the Assam Cabinet has taken the decision to establish four new Forensic Laboratory in the state.
The four laboratories will be established at –
1. Silchar Medical College.
2. Dibrugarh Medical College.
3. Tezpur Medical College and
4. Bongaigaon Civil Hospital.
During the meeting, Minister Pijush Hazarika stated –
“The decision to instate four new Forensic Laboratory in Assam was taken by the Cabinet keeping in view that till date there is only one laboratory. In Assam, the conviction rate related to forensic evidence is very low.
Till date, the conviction rate related to forensic is only Seven percent. Due to which, sometimes criminals escapes from being convicted.”
“The decision to induct four more labs in Assam was taken to speed up forensic reports.” Pijush Hazarika informed.
Minister Pijush Hazarika further informed that the state Health Ministry has been ordered to construct a building of 2,000 square feet for each laboratory.
