Another Assam Police Constable Succumbes To COVID-19

News Desk: Assam Police personnel, Puni Mech Paul, succumbed to death due to COVID-19 on July 23. She was a police constable from Namrup and was reported to be suffering from kidney problems. On July 19. She was admitted to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH). She is survived by her husband and a 9-year-old child.

With the death of Puni Mech Paul, the Assam Police has so far reported at least 3 COVID-19 deaths. She is among the many warriors in India who succumbed to death due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Dibrugarh Police twitted on July 23 which stated, “With heavy hearts, we announce the demise of #coronawarrior, WPC Puni Mech Paul posted at Namrup PS. Already fighting kidney ailments, she was found to be COVID+ and succumbed to it yesterday. We stand in solidarity with her family and pray for the departed soul.



Earlier on July 20, another Assam Police personnel, Rajesh Narzary succumbed to death. On April 7, he was admitted to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) due to COVID-19 related ailment.
